Really like this video for Villagers’ new single That Day. Along with the tour schedule, press attention and vast audience, the magic of signing to a hugely-supportive label has been evident in the videos made for Conor O’Brien’s songs from his debut album. We’ve seen the dancing pig-people and spooky art of Becoming A Jackaland the uber-trendy ‘colorbrite’ Ship of Promises but I think this new one is really candid and understated, a bit like Villagers’ music itself.
A very, very busy year indeed for Villagers since signing to Domino Records for the release of Becoming A Jackal and tomorrow night is an important event as the winner of the Mercury Music Prize is announced and Conor’s name is up there along with eleven other artists nominated for ‘Album of the Year’.
Booked up until the end of the year, this weekend’s performance at Electric Picnic is the last Villagers show here for a while, until the Irish homecoming tour that begins on 13 December until the final date in Dublin’s Vicar street. Full dates below.
