Remember I posted about a new Yeh Deadlies EP last week?
It’s heeeere.
Love that artwork! Released 30 October on digital download and limited cassette format with a special, invite-only, fancy dress launch party in Shebeen Chic, Dead Living is the Yeh Deadlies’ second EP, follow up to Snow Joke and the Magazine 7″. You can hear their back catalogue on Bandcamp.
Kinda like a musical quilt made from check shirts, paint charts, calendar boxes, gingham plimsolls, Kola Kubes and maths paper, they are square to infinity with catchy geomusical angles of rock/pop/folk oddness. I’ve always liked what the Deadlies do but now I am starting to really love this band. They just have so much bloody fun in everything they do, they’re remarkably prolific and jam out tunes on a whim, whether it’s a festive occasion, a blizzard, a sunny smile – booof – a new song! In that way they’re carefree but not sloppy and the music just flows out really naturally without gimmicks.
Exciting news from the label Popical Island so :: “Yeh Deadlies have also begun work in earnest on their debut album, ‘The First Book Of Lessons’, which will see the light of day next year.”
They’re sure welcome to teach me a thing or two.
