(No Ratings Yet)Last weekend from a crowded dancefloor I watched a DJ slide records out of sleeves and hold the black discs beneath the lights like he was officiating at the rock communion. I wondered how many bands will still be whirling off a turntable in twenty, thirty years time? One 7″ I hope DJs are packing for the future is Yeh Deadlies‘ Magazine.

Annie and Padraig, Jonny Fun and Dave Green belong to the burgeoning Popical Island community as Yeh Deadlies. They love to gig but listening to The First Book of Lessons it’s clear they wanted to make the album special and not just a collection of songs to be performed live. Akin to a warm chat over the kitchen table, this is the Deadlies’ big getting-to-know-you-session with the friendships their music’s struck up.
