A music blog from Ireland.
Not to be patronsing but if you haven’t yet heard Cloud Castle Lake I suggest you get an estate agent and move out from under that rock. It’s been a steady build over the past few years for the Dublin quartet as they’ve honed their live show and prepared their songs for recording. In doing so, the band have earned a reputation for impressive gigs and their alternative hybrid sound.

They play Crawdaddy tomorrow night with Katie Kim and the Trinity College Orchestra, which has imbued my imagination with marvellous depth of sound and colour as I place the music in context of such accompanists. It will be a great night and is part of the Future Bright initiative of POD and Heineken Music, which invites promising musicians to curate a night of performances and Cloud Castle Lake’s choice of artists reflect their own musical ideals. If you missed the announcement of Katie Kim‘s album sampler last week, then I won’t labour the point about living under a rock and will direct you towards this instead.
Would you like to head along to the show? If so, I have two pairs of passes to give away. Just send an email to harmlessnoise[at]gmail[dot]com by 4pm tomorrow (Thursday 31 March) with your name and ‘Cloud Castle Lake’ in the subject line. I’ll use random.org to pick the winners. Alternatively just head along: tickets are €5 and doors open at 7:30pm.
Here are some videos from CCL’s recent gig at the Grand Social for Cock&Bull TV, along with an acoustic session by Katie Kim <<<< check out the website cockandbulltv.tumblr.com for more from Kid Karate, The Casanova Wave and Laura Sheeran – there will soon be some SXSW footage up there too.
