A music blog from Ireland.
This Saturday, Girls Names launch their debut album Dead To Me at Hello Operator with support from Cap Pas Cap and Magic Pockets. The Belfast trio may have a pretty basic set-up but in that, their morbidly-tinged, ghostly-crooning lo fi guitar songs jangle like rusty chains decending from a height.

I’ve posted the videos to these songs recently; Seance On A Wet Afternoon and Bury Me. The album’s already receiving good reviews (7/10 on NME but fuck that rag. Here’s 8/10 from Sic).
Magic Pockets (aka Ruadhan O’Meara of Guilty Optics/Grey Mayhem) has been working on his tunes for a while now but his electronic stuff is pretty new to the live scene. He made a mix for Skinny Wolves ahead of the Girls Names gig, hear it here.
Hello Operator is an alternative arts space at 12 Rutland Place, Dublin 1 and capacity is limited so it’s advised you pick up tickets quickly. Admission is €10 and he venue is BYOB. Doors 830pm.
