Hunter-Gatherer – Risen uploaded by huntergathererforever
Really happy to post this. Hunter-Gatherer is hands-down my favourite Irish electronic artist and he’s been quiet this year…or so it seems. After filling 2009 with the big sound of his debut I Dreamed I Was A Footstep In The Trail Of A Murderer and releasing one free track a month in 2010 for the Fingerprints series, it would be odd if he were suddenly unproductive. Except this new single Risen is the first indication of how his current project is sounding: 100 songs in 100 days.
Risenis clearly recognisable as Hunter-Gatherer’s work. Dark and brooding, the timing is unmistakably in keeping with his style, developing steadily but also the use of sounds, ghostliness, whispery vocal and use of strong yet subtle beat that keeps the interest piqued until things really take off. At ten minutes it’s also the longest track of the entire HunGa catalogue to date.
You can download Risen for free as a WAV from Soundcloud or from Bandcamp in mp3 and a variety of formats. For more on Hunter-Gatherer, have a look at this interview I wrote last year.
