A music blog from Ireland.
A while ago I announced the news that The Ambience Affair had signed to Bluestack Records for the release of their debut album Burials. Yesterday the band not only revealed that the title is Burials and the release date has been set for 14 October but they also unveiled the album artwork, the work of their own bassist and upcoming photographer Yvonne Ryan.
This is a really cool image as an album cover and something that really suits the slightly-strange sophistication of The Ambience Affair’s music. What makes it even better though is that Yvonne has blogged about how the image was made along with the original photograph that makes up the centerpiece of the picture.
Jamie really liked it, & wanted to work out a way to use something like it for the cover. After a few brainstorming sessions in lovely Anseo on Camden St, we came up with the general concept: rocks, shovel, wolf mask. Phil & I headed out to a derelict quarry (conveniently located beside his house) to shoot an image with the album in mind. A few hours of edits and sketches later, and the cover image was ready to go.
Burials will be released on digital, CD and vinyl with pre-orders being made available soon. To coincide with the release The Ambience Affair have announced an album tour. The dates are below along with an album teaser video.
