Flyers :: Vasquez

This weekend super-Scots Vasquez attend to the needs of Cork and Dublin with two shows that I am tentatively guessing will shred the faces off those in attendance. According to the promoter “there’s definitely something here for fans of Adebisi Shank and Botch”. That’s you told.

Richter Collective have just informed me that Vasquez boast an Irish member in the form of Ciaran who formerly played in the Skies Collide. Of course the reason why these flyers are appearing here is because there’s a rake of Irish bands on the bills, beginning with Friday’s supports at Fred Zeppelin’s Stanton’s Grave from Cork and Dublin’s lazy-yet-lolzy-named Fuck Mountain.

I love that red poster. Saturday will see Vasquez claw their way up to Dublin to play the Lower Deck with the deadly Mongolia, Fag Enablerz and Fuck Mountain, and it’s the first gig of new band the Objectorz who have been pieced together from various limbs of Kabinboy, Moutpiece, Bastard Youth and Weil Rats (I haven’t seen Weil Rats since they played the Boom Boom Room with Lovvers and BATS in 2008).

I’ve actually just been sent an email from Derek of Moutpiece and The Objectorz who says that of the foursome members,

“Gary was in the Weil Rats, Kabinboy and also in My Name is Satan, Knifed and Oak.
Eoin is also in Wizards of Firetop Mountain and Zom presently as well as a heap of bands in the past including Bastard Youth.
Neil was in the Weil Rats
I have been in Moutpiece since the beginning of time.”

Well holy shit. I’m no longer tentative about the face-shredding. That’s a certainty now.

It’s €5 in to the Cork show at Fred Zeppelin’s and €7/8 for the Lower Deck in Dublin, reflecting the variety of the line-up. These are the real deal gigs where you just show up and rock.
