Video :: Strands

Ah I was so pleased to see this! A new video for Nylon, my favourite song from Strands’ self-titled album, one of the very best of the past few years.

It’s funny because although Nylon is quite full and assured, it’s still a very light song. I love the jinky melody and the way you can hear the squeal of guitar strings that probably gave the track its name. It’s just a song that’s lovely and warm and I find when I listen to the album that it’s something that really contributes to my well-being, in that I am always happier for having heard it.

The video above reflects that pretty well, shot from the point of view of a parent frolicking with a child on a beach: well done to WellBoy.

Strands is the musical alias of the producer Stephen Shannon who has worked closely with many of the most exciting and respected artists in the Irish music scene. I interviewed him on the release of the album, which you can stream and buy from Bandcamp.
