A music blog from Ireland.
Today the news broke that cassette label Quarter Inch Collective‘s second Quompilation of irish bands’ cover versions will be released on January 27th with a launch gig at Crawdaddy “involving as many of the bands as we can fit onto the stage”. That’s not even a joke – the first Quomp launch at the Lower Deck earlier this year was a high-octane, noisy, brilliant carnage, highlights of which included Cloud Castle Lake’s fantastic rendition of Lost In The World by Kanye West and No Monster Club’s Bobby Aherne atop the shoulders of the crowd, skimming the Deck’s low ceiling.
Here’s the line-up of bands on offer – forgive the lack of links but I’m not in my usual workspace right now. All of the artists have their own Bandcamp accounts, so you know where to go to hear more.
No Monster Club
Cloud Castle Lake
Turning Down Sex
The Ambience Affair
Artwork for the second Quompilation comes courtesy of Phewsha and advance orders of the limited edition cassettes come with personalised label-love letters, along with free postage and admission to the launch party for free. Copies will also be available to buy from deadly, cool record stores like Elastic Witch and Wingnut.
Here’s the original Quompilation to get you salivating. I still can’t get over how good these cover versions are – dying to hear the fresh batch!
