Perfect pop songs have the kind of wide-ranging, pretty appeal that make people fall into audio-love and as Windings ready for the release of their new 7″ single, they’re showing off their new beau, The Space I Occupy, in public for the first time.
Nice video, I’m a sucker for dreamsparkle stuff since the BFG although I never was keen on Willo The Wisp. I love the inner child that comes out in Windings. They know we’re going to love it too, and it always seems to me as though they’re masterminding an elaborate ruse, effortlessly creating very clever songs that stimulate nostalgia and then satisfy a want. It’s like, ‘okay, okay, here’s a song’ and instead of pent-up punk we get its mirror image, the pastoral pop song. Here’s to the sound of a children’s choir filling up the whole day.
You can buy The Space I Occupy on its release as a 7″ with The Hassle through Out On A Limb Records on 15 February. This is all in preparation for a FundIt campaign which will see the Limerick five rally their fans for support in recording an album with Efrim Menuck of Godspeed You! Black Emperor in Montreal’s Hotel2Tango Studios (where Halves recorded It Goes…), this coming March. They’re canny lads y’see…they’re eastward bound for Canadian Music Week.
Want more? Here’s that pent-up punk.
