A music blog from Ireland.
There isn’t much that thrills me more than news of my favourite bands making new music. Legion of Two are the reclusive drums and electronics duo of David Lacey and Alan O’Boyle and this here is a brand-new remix of Skeleton Crew from A Lazarus Soul‘s underrated 2011 album Through A Window In The Sunshine Room.

Brian Brannigan‘s words are usually so powerful and heavy that they outclass the lyrical content of Irish lightweights so here his vocal sounds at home against the remix’s apocalyptic thunder. The original version of this song On the Late Shift with the Skeleton Crew is one my favourites from the Window album but at five minutes its playing time is extended almost double. It’s short for Lo2, far too short, but as @mythikle said when he sent over the link, you’ll just have to listen 20 times. Download it free from Bandcamp where two more ALS remixes can be heard and if you’re in the mood for more, this reworking of Enda Bates’ brilliant Pulse will make an army out of you.
Legion Of Two are assembling their second album and I hear all kinds of rumours about completion, recording and only coming out at night to feast on fruitbats and the rare gig but who the fuck knows with those guys? I don’t know where you can hear the fine first release Riffs online but you’ll find it in good local record stores. Which is my hamfisted way of pointing out that it’s a seminal piece of work from this recent musical heyday and its follow-up is more anxiously anticipated than a letter in wartime.
