This morning it was announced that Halves, Dublin’s sprawling instrumental band, will release a limited edition live recording for Record Store Day 2012 on 21 April. Recorded in the Dublin Unitarian Church on December 9th 2011 the performance features members of 3epkano on strings and Jennifer Evans on vocals. Pressed on 180g clear vinyl, there are eight tracks with an additional digital download bonus, and as you can see in the tracklisting below, they are part of the setlist of songs cherrypicked from their debut album and previous EPs.

Record Store Day is celebrated in April each year and has gathered momentum in the last few years as music fans and faithful patrons all the world over show their appreciation for local independent record stores. Lots of events take place in conjunction so keep an ear out for the happenings near you.

Along with the live video above of Darling You’ll Meet Your Maker from the Unitarian Church show, below is the tracklist and a pre-release stream of the new record’s version of Haunt Me When I’m Drowsy. I interviewed Brian Cash ahead of the gig and he spoke about the preparations that were already underway for the band’s second LP which is due to be released in 2013.
