Ah I love this, it’s so happy and fun, a band and their friends stuffed into one of Ukiyo Bar’s karaoke booths filled with fairylights, Jameson and a poster of lyrics to the new Bouts song Turn Away pinned to the wall. The Japanese inserts work really well too: I’d say they translate to ‘buy our songs, we’re awesome’. Particularly cool cameo from Karen Howlin of RGBeats Art!

You probably recognise the song as it’s one part of the new 7″ and a few weeks ago I posted the news of its release along with the first Bouts tour around Ireland. I met up with vocalist/guitarist Barry and bassist Niall for an interview earlier this week – one of the most giggly chats I’ve ever had – and as we covered the band’s evolution, it was clear how happy they were that Bouts had really taken off as a band since that first album released out of the blue in 2010. They’ve done well this year and it’s deserved on the back of the EP and those loud, raucous pop songs that just keep getting better with each listen.

Tour details below, catch Bouts’ single launch at the Workman’s Club tonight with We Are Losers and Girl Band, or hit em cheerfully at a nearby venue soon and check back next week for that giggly chat.
