When they changed their name this band seemed to finally come into their own. The recent tracks September Girls put out are totally blowing off their pretty pop pastimes in favour of serious vintage grooves. I could freak out to these tunes. This new track is Green Eyed, due for release in October on 7″ with Danny Wood on Soft Power Records. Couldn’t have asked for a better follow up to Hells Bells.

We know what the world’s like so at times it must be a melt to be a female musician but they’re proud to be Girls. Instruments are unisex and these kinda songs are the type that arise from friends doing music, that get written over a record player late into the night. It’s fuzzed-out garage rock with guitar and piercing synth melodies, and only when the swoon of vocals wade in would you think about anything else. So what does that leave? They sing pretty well. Now listen to the bass and dat synth.

September Girls are playing HWCH then goof off tour to the UK in October.
